Sustainability and
environmental responsibility
at Pfanner
Pfanner is aware of the environmental impact of its business activities and actively takes responsibility for protecting the environment. To continuously strengthen our contribution to sustainability, we implement specific measures on an ongoing basis, supported by an internal energy management system.
The Measures We Take
- Most of our production sites are certified to the ISO 14001 environmental management standard.
- ISO 50001 energy management certification has already been implemented at some sites and is currently being extended to others.
- Using solar energy: In addition to solar thermal energy, most of our roof space is fitted with photovoltaic panels, allowing us to generate a significant proportion of the electricity we need ourselves.
- Using green electricity: For years, the electricity purchased for most of our production sites has come from renewable energy sources, such as hydropower.
- We regularly invest in modernising and optimising our production sites to further improve energy efficiency, for example through heat recovery.
- Together with our suppliers, we continuously work to optimise sustainable packaging solutions.

Fairtrade
For over 25 years, Pfanner has been working with FAIRTRADE to actively promote fair trade and better living conditions in the Global South.

- FAIRTRADE works with producers to promote fairer trading and working conditions.
- FAIRTRADE supports farmers and workers through better prices and working conditions.
RAINFOREST ALLIANCE
Alongside refreshment and great taste, sustainability is a key priority for Pfanner.
- Most of the Pfanner Iced Tea range is Rainforest Alliance certified.
- RFA products contain 100% certified tea from responsibly managed farms.
- RFA certification helps safeguard livelihoods and protect the environment for the long term.

ORGANIC
Pfanner has been certified organic for many years and meets comprehensive standards throughout the entire production chain.
- All Pfanner organic products carry the organic certification seal.
- Ongoing inspections throughout the entire value chain are carried out by Austria Bio Garantie (ABG) to ensure product quality.
- Organic certification ensures environmentally responsible farming without genetic engineering, synthetic chemical pesticides or mineral nitrogen fertilisers.
- Gentle processing without added sugar, preservatives or other additives helps preserve the products’ natural qualities.
VEGAN
A large proportion of the Pfanner range carries the V-Label.
- Pfanner products are made without the use of any animal-derived ingredients.
- We do not use gelatine to clarify our juices.
- The V-Label identifies products with vegan or vegetarian recipes.

A Simple Click Makes All the Difference!
There’s no longer a pull tab inside, which means less plastic is needed. The ‘safety click’ you hear when opening the pack for the first time confirms that it has not been opened before.
